Happy Birthday Panda! (Free Ticket Giveaway)

Four years ago almost to this day the Xiong Mao venue opened its doors for the first time to an eager crowd of party goers in the South West of Chengdu. Then, just a few days later, we felt the force of one of the most powerful earthquakes to hit China in over 30 years.

Fast forward 4 years and we have the new, vastly improved,  Xiong Mao in the East Chengdu Music Park which opened to great fanfare a little over 6 months ago. As Chengdu breakcore legend Bobby B puts it " Most of us knew that Xiong Mao could be the start of something special as we stood amongst a huge crowd waiting for DJ Shadow to take the decks during the opening weekend festival. Despite the high expectations created during that first weekend, this club has exceeded them all. In the past few months we have seen DJ Shadow, Terry Tu, Yang Bing, The Bug, Mickey Zhang, Billy Starman, Ben Huang, Conrank, Howie B, DJ Krush, Doc Daneeka and more all play live here in our small city."

Luckily for us it appears the numbers of quality electronic artists coming to play live in our small city wont be stopping any time soon. This month alone sees not one but two major international artists on their way to the Du; Addison Groove aka Headhunter is set to play a live 808 set on 25th of this month and Xiong Mao's birthday celebrations will kick off in fine style to the unique sounds of one of the world's top DJs, electronic music producer, label owner and Kling Klong radio show host - Martin Eyerer.

Martin Eyerer is a name synonymous with the underground electro, minimal and tech/deep house dancefloors with releases on labels such as Kling Klong, Systematic, Audiomatique, Great Stuff, Kickboxer, Renaissance and i/o records. His original tracks receive acclaim from some of the biggest names in the business including Dubfire, Axwell, 2000 and One, Anja Schneider, Tom Novy, Stephan Bodzin, Reboot, Gregor Tresher, John Digweed and many many more.

To celebrate the fact that Xiong Mao is 4, chengdumusic will be giving away 2 pairs of tickets to our lucky readers. Simply leave a message on this article and let us know which show you've enjoyed the most in Xiong Mao. The more comments you make the better chance you have of winning. Winners will be drawn randomly so best of luck.

Martin Eyerer plays Xiong Mao Live on Saturday 19th May 2012. Doors open at 9.30 and tickets are 60 rmb & 40 rmb for students.

Never been to the new Xiong Mao, but start with a 4th anniversary bash, add a splash of Martin Eyerer and top it off with free tix, I don't think I'll ever get over my first time.
